The purpose of this activity is to enhance the capacity of our southern partners in working with the marginalised needy communities by building up their resilience in socio economic power growth through VSLAs. This power enables these communities to have a voice against retrogressive cultural and political practices like SGBV, discrimination from participation in governance, food insecurity, access to education and sustainable peace.
The participants from IAS/FPC Nakuru are Margaret Wambui, the program manager human rights project and Odukhula Johnstone the project steering committee chair.
Catherine W. Njuguna-Maguzu and Sambeke Kiruswa, the project manager and field worker of proposed anti-FGM project in Arusha and Manyara regions where VSLAs form a major part of the components.
From UEBB/BUD Gérard NIZIGIYIMANA and Diomede NTAKIRUTIMANA, Union of Baptist Churches in Burundi (UEBB), Jean Damascene BISERUKA, VSLA field officer and from AEBR/BUD Jacqueline IRADUKUNDA, project manager, Association of Baptist Churches in Rwanda (AEBR), and from Dutabarane/BUD Révérien Nderagakura, Groups Supervisor and Ezéchiel Habonimana, Project Coordinator, Dutabarane (DB). Oliver Umwali and Chantal Umulisa are selected from Christian Mercy Ministries Rwanda/KIT, as they are in charge of a VSLA programme in Eastern Rwanda.
The main activities are the attendance of the training, the documenting of the key learning areas, the integration of the same in their programs in their areas of intervention. The expected outputs are structuring and the mainstreaming of the learned lessons in their programs and improved monitoring and documentation of the VSLAs performance in the communities. Enhanced organizational capacity in VSLA knowledge and implementation.
