Sustainable Agricultural Practices Project: Capacitating the Marginal Farmers in Moiben,Uasin Gishu County

The project will work with 200 marginal farmers in Tachasis/Simatwo areas of Moiben Sub-County, Uasin Gishu County, equipping them with knowledge and skills in sustainable agricultural practices, enabling them to enhance the productivity and profitability of their farms, effectively moving them out of poverty and enabling them to fully participate in the socio-economic and political affairs of the wider society. The project objectives are: a) 200 poor and marginalized farmers have improved farm productivity and profitability by project end, b) One producer association established and strengthened to champion improved agricultural support services to the farmers groups along the 3 identified value chains by project end, c) Agriculture stakeholders organized into a forum to champion the removal of policy constraints facing marginal farmers by project end. Key among the project activities that will enable us realize the stated objectives will be: mobilize, recruit and train 200 farmers in groups of 10 – 20 persons per group, identify and develop 3 agricultural value chains, work with the farmers groups to establish a strong and effective producer association, and also work with other stakeholders to setup a community agricultural stakeholders committee that will champion the farmers rights.
