Extending local capacity: Online training and development of courses

MAF is working in 27 developing countries with many different partners, assisting them with flights and technology to help needy hard-to-reach people on isolated locations. The help can be in terms of relief, health, medevac or development. To have a sustainable impact and legitimacy in the countries local staff is hired whenever possible. The objective in this intervention is to develop capacity in programmes to help more poor people through training of local staff. The courses are online to reduce costs and travel time. Based on assessments from line managers and the learning and development strategy, staff working with Human Resources, Safety and Engineering has been selected in Papua New Guinea, Timor-Leste and Uganda. New online courses will be developed to be used by MAF training staff and all staff will have access to an online kit with relevant courses and articles. The intervention will help staff to carry out their roles to a high standard, improving our services and ultimately benefitting the isolated people we serve.
