This intervention aims to strengthen the menstrual health management (MHM) amongst young girls to reduce school absenteeism and health issues related to poor MHM. The intervention will take place in Arusha, Babati and Kiteto districts in Tanzania. It will be carried out through trainings of school going children (boys and girls) in primary and secondary schools in all three districts. The trainings will be on puberty, menstrual health, the transition from childhood to adulthood, and how they can take care of themselves and one another. The boys and girls will also be given child friendly manuals that they will continually use to even sensitise their peers. Seminars, trainings and workshops on MHM will also be offered to the parents, teachers, religious leaders and government officials with emphasise on their role on MHM. For continuity and sustainability there will be a deliberate intention to target men as ambassadors of MHM, establish MHM advocacy groups and train ToT’s.
