"Acadevists" for the Amazon

The project is a collaboration between Aktion Amazonas and Department of Geosciences at University of Copenhagen. It aims to equip a group of students with the knowledge and skills to mobilize and raise awareness about value chains affecting deforestation in the Amazon.

After 4 introduction sessions, 15 students are sent to Peru for a study trip, meeting fellow students, local forest producers, indigenous leaders and ACCA, the local partner in Peru and engage in a Youth Summit. At the trip the students will make SoMe posts, articles and a webinar. After returning to Denmark, the students will make research papers and events for fellow students about key insights and arrange a rainforest festival aimed at the general public.

The project aims at vesting the students with knowledge and an ability to act in society – what we call “acadevists”. Furthermore, the events will show ways to concrete action and change in consumption habits for the 2. and 3. target group.
