The Defeat poverty through Empowerment, Advocacy, and Rights (DEAR) project aims to improve livelihoods, increase access to government services, and boost participation in social and government structures for marginalized groups in Bangladesh’s Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT). Target groups include persons affected by leprosy, persons with disabilities, women, youth, and ethnic minorities, focusing on Organizations of Persons affected by Leprosy or Disabilities (OPLDs), Self-Help Groups (SHGs), sub-district associations, and duty bearers like religious leaders. The project builds capacity of civil society organizations and community leaders to advocate for economic and social rights, creates District-based Advocacy Platforms (DAPs), facilitates access to services, and supports OPLDs in providing financial support and market linkages for income-generating activities. By June 2028, it aims to empower marginalized groups to access entitlements and improve socio-economic conditions.
