Progress, Education and Advocacy for nomadic pastoralist women, Phase 2

  • Projektnummer CKU-2025-A-16
  • Bevillingshaver LUTHERSK MISSIONSFORENING
  • Land Tanzania

The project is targeting nomadic pastoralist women in six communities in the Iringa Region: Mtandika A, Mpalapande, Namayana, Izazi, ? and ?. These women, mainly from the Maasai and Datooga tribes, face deep-rooted socio-cultural barriers, high illiteracy, and marginalization. The project adopts a holistic strategy to empower them through a three-pronged approach: (1) structured two-part seminars providing skills and literacy training; (2) community-level mindset and behaviour change interventions engaging both men and women to support women’s agency; and (3) enhancing access to civil rights and local government services. Key activities include entrepreneurship training, Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs), Envisioning worksjops and Community dialog. In this secon phase the project seeks to strengthen interventions from phase 1, expand to new communities and increase advocacy efforts.
