Ugandan Youth engaged in climate change adaptation and income generation through agro forestry

The project focuses on mitigating climate change by motivating vulnerable youths to set up demonstration forest and horticulture gardens on church land, using innovative forest gardening techniques, including tree planting. They will be encouraged to use the new knowledge and practices on their own or family land.
200 young vulnerable women and men between 18-30 years in 4 sub-counties in Kamuli District, will form Youth Climate Smart Groups with the local churches as a support base. The youth will be trained in agro-forestry, horticulture, climate smart techniques, marketing&sales and entrepreneurship. The Climate Smart Youth Groups will set up 4 food forest demonstration gardens of church land and gardens on their own land as well as inspiring the community and lobby local leaders to do the same.
