This phase 2 project aims to improve menstrual health management (MHM) among young girls in Arusha, Simanjiro, Babati, and Kiteto districts in Tanzania to reduce school absenteeism and health issues. It includes training school children on puberty, menstrual health, and self-care, with child-friendly booklets for peer sensitization. Seminars, training, and workshops will be conducted for parents, teachers, religious leaders, and government officials to emphasize their role in MHM. Men and boys will be targeted as ambassadors, and advocacy groups will be established for sustainability.

Building on phase 1, which targeted 2000 students in 20 schools, phase 2 will expand to Simanjiro and target 2600 new students across 20 schools. The project will engage phase 1 trainers to supervise after-school clubs and use a peer-to-peer approach to teach MHM and GBV prevention. ELCT-NCD will continue partnerships with local communities and bringing together various stakeholders to improve MHM.
