Promoting and Protecting Freedom of Religion or Belief (FoRB) in Zambia

This initiative seeks to tackle systemic discrimination against Zambia's religious minorities by empowering a core-group of Zambian CSOs to engage in activities to promote and protect FoRB in Zambia. Undertaken by the Danish Minorities Center for Human Rights and Development (DMC-HRD) with Zambian partners, the project empowers CSOs to challenge institutional biases stemming from Zambia's constitutional declaration as a Christian nation. By strengthening local CSOs' ability to document violations and engage policymakers, the project fosters sustainable mechanisms for religious tolerance. The initiative contributes to SDGs 10 (reduced inequalities), 16 (peaceful societies) and 17 (partnerships), while creating models for interfaith cooperation that can be replicated nationally.
