Promoting Freedom of Religion or Belief (FoRB) in Tana Delta in Tana River County, Kenya
- Projektnummer CKU-2025-TB-05
- Bevillingshaver Danish Minorities' Center for Human Rights and Development
- Land Kenya
This project addresses growing religious intolerance in Kenya's Tana Delta Sub County by promoting Freedom of Religion or Belief (FoRB) among vulnerable youth and communities. Targeting 18–24-year-olds at risk of radicalization, the initiative combines youth empowerment, interfaith dialogue, and institutional engagement across three phases. Phase one focuses on training 40 youth champions to lead community sensitization campaigns and interfaith dialogues, while subsequent phases will expand to government stakeholders.
The intervention responds to acute religious tensions in Tana Delta, where recent violent incidents and systemic discrimination have undermined social cohesion. By addressing root causes—including rights awareness gaps and interfaith divisions, the project aligns with SDGs 10, 16, and 17 and Kenya's constitutional protections (Article 32).
