Faith-Driven environmental Restoration in Longido, Tanzania

The project will work with environmental restoration in three villages in Longido district with the purpose of improving living conditions for pastoral Maasais in the area. 95 % of the Maasais in the area depend on livestock and are negatively affected by environmental soil degradation due to drought, invasive species and soil erosion. The project will work with a faith-based approach by working strategic with faith leaders from churches, mosques and traditional beliefs in the area. Faith units will be established that will demonstrate and mobilize community members in sustainable land management and setting up a pasture zone for young and lactating livestock. Inter-faith unites will advocate for improved governance of natural resources. The overall purpose is to foster a faith-driven approach to environmental restoration and foster learning on impact and methodology.
