The project aims to strengthen food security, climate resilience and economic empowerment among 600 smallholder farmers in rural Gasabo District. The intervention targets vulnerable households, with a strong focus on women and youth, and is expected to benefit approximately 6,000 people, including both direct and indirect beneficiaries. The project combines three integrated components: agricultural transformation through RIPAT and climate-smart practices; financial inclusion through VSLA/VSLF; and community-based advocacy structures that enable farmers to engage with local authorities. Farmers are trained in sustainable agriculture, post-harvest management and income-generating activities, while also gaining access to savings and credit services. Community groups is supported to organise, identify priorities and engage in structured dialogue with local government and church leaders. The expected outcome is improved productivity, increased income and strengthened local governance.
