Feasibility Study on a Teen-mother intervention in the ELCT NCD Northern District

• The pastoralists in the Northern District of the ELCT-NCD face significant social challenges, among which the plight of teen-mothers is prominent. Early and unintended pregnancies lead to health risks, school dropouts, social stigma, and economic hardship for young mothers and their children. Many teen-mothers in this area lack access to support services, education, and vocational training, limiting their opportunities for self-reliance and well-being.
Addressing the challenges faced by teen-mothers is essential for breaking the cycle of poverty, improving maternity and child health, and fostering community development. ELCT–NCD aims to lead an initiative that empowers teen-mothers through education, counseling and skills development, contributing to a healthier and more resilient community.
Through a baselin-survey in two local communities, teen-mothers, young men, religious leaders and local community leaders will contribute to increased knowledge on how to adress the challenges.
