  • Land Kenya

Imani Zetu is a two-year Freedom of Religion or Belief (FoRB) and gender justice project strengthening inclusive FoRB practice, elevating women's religious leadership, and enabling faith communities to influence policy through community-generated evidence. Implemented by Danmission, the Coast Interfaith Council of Clerics (CICC), and the Circle of Concerned African Women Theologians across Mombasa, Kilifi, Kwale, and Tana River Counties, the project engages 120+ religious leaders, 300+ women in faith communities, 60+ youth, 50+ minority faith representatives, and 16 community researchers. Three mutually reinforcing components structure the work: interfaith dialogue and women's theological reflection circles; FoRB leadership training and formation of religious leaders and youth; and evidence-based advocacy enabling faith communities to engage policy processes, including the Religious Organizations Bill (2024), through participatory FoRB assessments.
