Shared Spaces, Shared Futures – A FoRB Initiative

  • Projektnummer CKU-2026-TB-03
  • Bevillingshaver Kirkernes Integrations Tjeneste
  • Land Sri Lanka

The overall goal of the project is to strengthen constructive engagement amongst adults on Freedom of Religion and Belief (FoRB) related concerns in two multi‑religious villages of the Trincomalee District of Sri Lanka, during a 12‑month pilot intervention that will contribute toward the community members’ ability to exercise their freedom of religion or belief in a conflict-sensitive manner. This would address the need for all religions to be given a sense of acceptance and access, as well as promote respect for all religions and their beliefs through increased awareness among community members of the target locations, including relevant duty bearers and religious leaders. The intervention will build on the lessons learnt from a previous FoRB initiative conducted in 2023, where the focus was on empowering children to be change agents in their spheres of influence in relation to upholding FoRB. A local baseline will be used to implement and test previous learnings in a new setting.
