Strengthening Freedom of Religion or Belief (FoRB) and social cohesion in Mayuge, Uganda

Our project aims to strengthen Freedom of Religion or Belief (FoRB), interfaith tolerance and social cohesion in Mayuge Town Council, Uganda. It will engage 30 Christian and Muslim religious leaders, 24 League Mobilisers, 6 Peer Educators and around 800 young sports participants, while also reaching wider community audiences. Main activities include FoRB and advocacy training, interfaith dialogue forums, sports-based community outreach, community radio programmes and engagement with local duty bearers. Religious leaders will also integrate FoRB and tolerance messages into sermons, religious classes, youth and women’s groups and other routine activities. The expected result is greater FoRB awareness, reduced religious discrimination and mistrust, more inclusive participation across faith communities, stronger interfaith cooperation and sustainable local mechanisms for promoting religious tolerance.
