Project to promote the well-being of young detainees of Mfou, Monatele and Ngoumous`prisons in Cameroon

This project aims to empower young detainees in 3 Cameroonian prisons; Monatelé, Mfou, Ngoumou.
The project improves the detention conditions and protect young detainees’ rights, by providing them with psychological support, legal assistance by lawyer and promoting their right. To ensure a more holistic intervention, the project will also provide support to prison staff, at they deal with inmates on a daily basis and incidentally have a great influence on their well-being.
To reach our objectives the main activities will consist in (i) organizing psychological – individual and group – therapy for detainees and guards, (ii) handling specific cases to lawyers for the follow in the court, and (iii) raise awareness of both the government authorities and CSOs, on the necessity to collaborate to initiate and advocacy on detainee’s conditions, and involve them in workshops aiming at analyzing the texts in vigor in order to identify their insufficiencies and define a clear advocacy objective.
