Lebanon, Our Story seeks to engage multiple demographically diverse stakeholders, primarily youth aged 15-25, to strengthen civil society and guide its collective journey towards a cohesive, democratic future. The project undertakes to build resilience, promote peaceful co-existence (including between host and displaced communities), and enhance civic space, through the provision of training, cross-community and cross-sector events, workshops, and media campaigns online and on air.

Lebanon, Our Story is focused on the use of narratives to drive social cohesion (or adversely, social erosion) and civic engagement. The project invites representatives from across multiple demographics, including gender, religious background, and host/displaced communities including Syrians, Palestinians and Armenians, to recognize inequalities and build social cohesion rooted in interdependence. This project will prioritise community members aged between 15 and 25 – from Muslim, Christian, and Druze communities and including High School and university students as well as young adults – working alongside local faith and community leaders, NGOs, INGOs, and the media. By having the media play such a prominent role (through a social media campaign, documentary series, and sitcom/drama) it is this project’s intent that a strong, clear, and professionally maintained voice will be given to civil society, empowering community members to counteract divisive narratives and promote peaceful coexistence for all who call Lebanon home, regardless of religious affiliation, social status, or whether or not they reside in Lebanon by choice.
